Gua Sha
Release Tension, Renew Vitality
What is Gua sha?
Gua sha is a massage technique frequently used to relieve pain, ease muscle tension, and enhance circulation.
How It Works
1. Preparation: A soothing massage oil is applied to the skin to facilitate smooth movement.
2. Massage: A rounded-edged instrument, often made from smooth jade stone, is gently used to massage targeted areas, reducing pain and releasing tension. Common areas include the back, neck, and shoulders.
3. Effects: Gua sha may produce temporary reddish-purple marks on the skin, known as petechiae, which naturally fade within three to seven days.
-
Pain Relief: By promoting proper blood circulation, Gua sha alleviates pain caused by blood stagnation.
-
Inflammation Reduction: Effective in treating both acute and chronic pain by reducing inflammation and improving circulation.
-
Scar Tissue Breakdown: Breaks up scar tissue and muscle adhesions, releasing toxins and built-up lactic acid.
-
Respiratory Support: Treats respiratory conditions when applied to the neck, chest, and upper back.
-
Digestive Aid: Improves digestion when used on the lower back and lower legs.
-
Antioxidative Effect: Influences the enzyme Heme Oxygenase-1, offering protective antioxidative effects that reduce inflammation at the cellular level.
